Menu Path: Catalog > Products > Create
Adding a new product involves providing all the essential details that your customers need to make a purchase decision. The creation screen is divided into logical sections.
Step 1: Basic Information
This section forms the foundation of your product page.
- Product Name: Enter a clear, descriptive title. This is the main
<h1>tag on the frontend and is crucial for SEO. - Category: Select the appropriate category from the hierarchical tree. Proper categorization ensures customers can find the product via site navigation.
- Brand: If applicable, link the product to an existing brand defined in the
Relations > Brandsmodule. - Short Description: A concise summary (usually 1-2 sentences) that appears near the top of the product page or in product cards.
- Detailed Content (Description): Use the Rich Text Editor to provide comprehensive details, specifications, usage instructions, and embedded media.
Step 2: Inventory & Identification
Proper identification is vital for warehouse management and order fulfillment.
- SKU (Stock Keeping Unit): A unique alphanumeric code used internally to track inventory. This field is mandatory and must be unique.
- Barcode (EAN/UPC): The standard retail barcode number. Useful for point-of-sale integrations and shipping logistics.
- Initial Stock Quantity: Enter the number of items currently available for sale. If you track inventory dynamically, the system will deduct from this number upon successful orders.
Step 3: Media Gallery
High-quality visuals directly impact conversion rates.
- Cover Image: The primary image shown in catalogs and search results.
- Gallery Images: Upload additional photos showing different angles, close-ups, or lifestyle shots. You can drag and drop to reorder the images.
- Video Link: (Optional) Provide a YouTube or Vimeo link to embed a product showcase video.
Step 4: Finalizing and Saving
Once the core information is entered:
- Set the initial Status (Draft or Active).
- Click the "Create" or "Save" button at the bottom of the page.
Next Steps: Saving the basic product unlocks advanced configuration tabs. To set prices, add product variations (like size or color), and configure SEO, proceed to the Edit Product guide.
